BURGER KING: celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Whopper sandwich by immortalizing the product as an attraction in Madam Tussauds Wax Museum In New York City. The wax image portrays The King presenting the Whopper on a silver platter. It is the first food product to be part of the collection. The company is also launching a series of TV spots that show people life without the burger. Whopper immortalized in wax for 50th birthday

MIAMI — Burger King’s Whopper sandwich is 50 years old.
To help kick off the celebration, the Whopper sandwich and the famous Burger "King" will be immortalized Dec. 6, 2007, in Madame Tussauds wax attraction in New York City’s Times Square. The burger is the first food product to receive such an honor.
“The Whopper sandwich is a sensation worldwide. Whether you’re 15 or 50, live in Austin or Austria, the Whopper stands for a big, flame-grilled burger made your way,” said Russ Klein, president of global marketing, strategy and innovation for Burger King Corp. “Burger King started the customization phenomenon with the Whopper, and our guests keep coming back because they always get what they want — a superior burger that delivers on their individual tastes.”
Burger King Corp. will launch a series of television spots airing in the U.S. in which real customers imagine life without the Whopper. The company also will launch Whopperfreakout.com, where visitors can view authentic outtakes of “Whopper withdrawal” from customers in the advertising spots.
